___Stadium “Vingis” is owned by the Lithuanian Olympic Sports Centre under the institution of Physical Education and Sports Department. The facilities here are used for training of the new generation of the Olympic teams and athletes of track-and-field athletics, modern pentathlon, football and other sports. The Stadium is also used by sports training establishments of Vilnius City Municipality, Lithuanian cadets are welcome to perform their physical fitness tests here. The Stadium is also used for hosting Lithuanian track-and-field athletics events and some international competitions as well as sports-related and other mass events of a national and city level.
___A brand new bright red running track is the first thing that catches our eye whenever we come to Track-and-Field Stadium “Vingis” built back in 1954. The audience area has been rearranged with 2000 seats installed for the audience. New sectors specifically designed for discus throw, the long jump and the high jump, triple jump, javelin and hammer throw have been equipped at the Stadium in compliance with the requirements applicable by the International Association of Athletics Federation.
___In addition to this, the office building of the Stadium has been completely renovated by installing locker rooms for athletes, showers adapted for disabled users, a gym as well as coach and staff working spaces.
___Stadium “Vingis” is the only stadium of this type in Vilnius providing training facilities for professional athletes, i.e. member of the national Olympic team and their substitutes, during the warm season.
