WINTER SPORT CENTER IN IGNALINA HAS BEEN MODERNISED

____In 2009 JSC “Tiksli forma” (Precise form) prepared a technical project “The development and modernisation of the Lithuanian Winter Sport Center in Ignalina”. Currently, JSC “Tiksli forma” implements promotion part of the European Union Structural Funds’ project “The development and modernisation of the Lithuanian Winter Sports Center in Ignalina”. The project has been funded by the European Union Structural Funds (according to the Lithuanian Strategy for the Use of the European Union Structural Assistance for 2007-2013 and relevant action programmes for its implementation). Project code is VP3-1.3-ŪM-03-V-01-006, the project has been implemented under the 3^rd priority Tourism Projects of National Significance of the Action Programme for Promotion of Cohesion.
____The main goal of the project is to improve the technical base of Winter Sport Center in Ignalina to allow organising international level skiing and biathlon competitions and trainings and to apply this infrastructure for use in summer season. The project will encourage the development of tourism sector in the region and will contribute to promotion of winter sport as well as training of highly skilled sportsmen, promote healthy life style in society and encourage youngsters’ engagement, provide public access to services; the complex itself will be oriented at high quality services in order to attract a large number of regular customers.  Project will have a positive economic and social impact. Implementation of this project will have a positive impact to the development of tourism sector in Ignalina region; it will allow attracting additional flows of tourists in winter. By the decision of the Government of the Republic of Lithuania this project was recognised a nationally significant economic project. Project funding comprises 1563948.00 € allocated from the European Union Structural Funds to implement the initiative. The duration of the project is June 2009 – 2015.
