SPORTS AND LEISURE CENTER IN MOLETAI
Client: Moletai Region Physical Culture and Sports Centre
Project: Year 2016
___The object is developed by taking maximum regard and adapting to the existing urban environment and by forming a visual reference of the new architectural quality, which would substantially influence the town’s identity. The building as if grows out of the environment – out of the natural frame and the existing sports complex (as if supplementing it), by architecturally and sizeably emphasizing movement and dynamics. All pedestrian communications in the land plot are formed compositionally in order to accentuate the entrance to the building which would seem to be inviting to come inside. This gives the building the image of visual representation and availability.
___Main entrance to the designed building is organized from the east side, based on the number of visitors. The entrance leads straight to the hall – reception. The reception is designed in a joint area with the physical therapy service waiting room. Changing room can be reached from the reception, by going through the automated access control (turnstiles) and through a corridor. From changing rooms, visitor flow is distributed to the pool – bath area (north part of the building) and a small gym (south part).
___The pool bath area will be around 1100 m². At least half of the pool facility area is covered by the 25-meter swimming pool with 4 tracks and a hydraulically lifting floor, designed according to the FINA requirements. Group water exercise classes as well as various activities for children will be organized with the help of the lifting floor.
___The remaining part of the pool area will be intended for a slightly different function – recreation and entertainment. This area will provide a place for children, as well as relaxation – recreation with various massaging water currents and a Jacuzzi. There will be three bath areas – Russian bath, steam room and sauna, as well as showers, one of which will have a cold water shower function. There will also be a separate pool – “stretching” bath intended for stretching the spine and exercises in water with separate changing facilities.
